Automatic Eddy Current inspection of tie rods

Advantages

* Rotating head with ultra-fast changeover of probes
* Very high test speed (135 parts per minute)
* Long defect detection (minimum lenght : usually 5 mm)
* Defect depht > 50 µm
* Very short setup time : less than 15 min
- Rotating head setup for different diameters less than 5 min
- Positioning of centering table less than 5 min
- Change of program, calibration and production start-up : all less than 2 min

Technical specifications

>Product :

* Tie-Rods
* Any cylindrical part requiring detection of longitudinal defects

>Feed conveyor : carries test parts to the rotating head for testing. The feed conveyor is adjustable to allow testing of different diameter test pieces.

>Rotating head : is also mounted on an adjustable table. The rotating head (Type TR) accomodates 2 or 4 channels of Eddy Current probes dependig on test speed.

>3 test head sizes available : 2 - 35/5 - 70/10 - 130

Each configuration has a rotation head with fixtures for holding the Eddy Current probes (for different diameter test parts).

>Photosensor cell : to detect the presence of test parts.

The test part are fed to the rotating head through guides located on the entry side and exit side guides in the rotating head. The rotating head contains the probes for Eddy Current testing. The probes are mounted in fixtures which can accomodates different diameter test pieces. This arrangment allows high speed testing of parts with no adjustement of the probes.

>Sorting system

The sorting system, at the exit side of the rotating head, guides the tested parts, via a conveyor system, to the proper bin. Depending on the result, good parts are sorted to a "good parts"" bin while rejected parts will be sorted to a "reject" bin.

>Eddy Current generator : Zet@ Master 2 channels
